Pleasant Valley Sunday

from The 1960s by Sarahtonin

about

Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, recorded by The Monkees. In this version, I blended Carole King's demo version with the Monkees arrangement. Her demo's a bit darker -- her bridge ends with "I don't ever want to see another Pleasant Valley Sunday . . . " The guitar riff is cool, but it's suspiciously similar to George Harrison's riff in The Beatles' "I Want to Tell You." But I think the arrangers of the Monkee version admitted as much.
