I first heard this song in 1965, on my tiny transistor radio, broadcast by KOMA in Oklahoma City. This was really magical to me, because I was in Eastern Montana, a thousand miles from OKC. Even at 12, I did realize that it was just radio waves bouncing off of the stratosphere, but it still seemed pretty magical. I especially loved the "It's your life . . . " section, which had me imagining being grown up and living in a big city somewhere..
