about

It all started with the guitar riff, and the rest was built around that. The idea for the lyric was to make it satirical commentary on psychotherapy, or "self-help" gurus. But in the end it's a heartfelt expression of questions of life, death, and suffering, with my own voice acting as "therapist." I mean, it *is* all in our minds, right?

lyrics

You Can Always Change Your Mind

As I sit here smiling
Like a Mona Lisa
Underneath my smile
There's not moment's peace
I've got a wad of "Why bother?"
About the size of Texas
Throbbing in the middle of
My solar plexus

Today I wonder
Will I see tomorrow?
Then the little angel Popeye
On my shoulder
Tries to tell me life is more
Than pain and sorrow

Come on, come on, it's all in your mind
And you can always change your mind

All the lifetimes lived and loved
And lost on Earth here
Why on Earth would any soul
Come back to birth here?
Swimming in the deep end of
Regrets and losses
Gotta mute my fear
To hear what joyful awe says

Tonight I wonder
Will I see the morning?
Then a good little witch called Wendy
Flying on her Hoover
Waves a magic microphone
And sings a warning

Come on, come, it's all in your mind, etc
